The collaboration took shape after both artists relocated to Los Angeles—Alsop from Toronto and Scala from New York—bonding over a shared love of classic pop influences like Prince, Bowie, and U2. Writing together in Alsop’s Valley-based studio, their creative synergy intensified during a songwriter’s retreat in a medieval castle in Tuscany, alongside frequent collaborators Will Wells (Logic, Hamilton, Imagine Dragons), Marcus Miller (OneRepublic, Jon Batiste), and Kristian Attard (Zedd, Jason Mraz). Stepping beyond a traditional studio setting, they explored ancient villages with instruments in hand, crafting songs inspired by far-off places, imaginary realms, and the space between dreams and reality.

Sound & Performances
From this retreat emerged a catalog of songs and new ones that evoke a sense of wonder, play, possibilities in the seen and unseen, love, heartbreak, and fun all throughout the songs. Back in Los Angeles and New York City, Scala and Alsop refined Delta Underground’s sound while building momentum with hybrid live performance/DJ sets at Lightning in a Bottle, Wisdome LA, and an official Grammy after-party hosted by Warner Music featuring special guest Jacob Scesney (Mike Posner).
